My name is Holly James, and I’m a null, which means I obliterate magic. Somehow, I’ve managed to turn my freakish power into a thriving null-for-hire business. I spend my days babysitting magical Others with anger management issues and mediating contracts between rival shifter clans.

When my boyfriend, Council Inspector Cade McAllister, discovers his latest murder case is entwined with one of my clients, I join him in the hunt for a killer. One who rips the hearts out of his victims.

And if that wasn’t enough, a strange phenomenon is infecting magic in areas around Tulsa. Spells start backfiring, shifters can’t change, and entire covens are in total meltdown. I don’t know what’s causing the chaos, but even I can’t nullify it.

Though the infection impairs Cade’s magic, we have to find this killer. Because it’s only a matter of time before he adds another heart to his collection.

They call me an abomination. A mutant. A curse on their kind.

I don’t let it bother me. Much.

My name is Holly James, and what they say is true. I’m a freak of nature—a null. My mere presence zaps the magic from Others, rendering them powerless. That’s why they hate me. But here’s the kicker: I’ve found a way to profit from my lack of mojo.

Whether it’s acting as a mystical wet blanket in a dispute between pyromancers or keeping hormonal shifters from changing during a sweet sixteen party, I provide a highly specialized service. For a hefty fee.

When a young witch turns up dead, clutching an amulet cursed with black magic, my estranged grandfather asks for my help. In return for nullifying the necklace, Gramps promises to find my missing mother—a witch who vanished after my birth. Of course there’s a catch. He wants me to assist Cade McAllister, the arrogant sorcerer in charge of investigating the case.

Cade resents my existence, let alone my attempts to help. Still, I’ll do whatever it takes to find my mom. For my own peace of mind I have to know what happened to her, and I won’t allow anything to get in my way. Not even this crazy, irrational longing I feel for a hot sorcerer with the sexiest scowl I’ve ever seen.

Recent books and films have popularized the billionaire, or ridiculously wealthy hero, in contemporary romantic fiction. However, the idea of a wealthy, powerful man as a hero isn't particularly revolutionary. There have always been these characters – whether they be Earls and Dukes in historical romances, or Bruce Wayne aka Batman in comics. A billionaire hero appeals to me for the obvious reason that lots of money facilitates having a good time in especially grand ways in exotic and extraordinary locales, and makes for an entertaining story.

About His to Keep

Austin's Beauty and the Beast series is a phenomenally inventive, consistently surprising series, and this third installment might be her most challenging--and most rewarding--to date.

Bridget Keown on RT Book Reviews Read Review

HIS TO KEEP is a scorching romance in a thoroughly addictive series. Terri L. Austin balances the emotional heavy-lifting with the fun sexiness.

The premise is entertaining and enjoyable; the characters are charismatic and charming; the romance is an erotic path to a happily ever after.

What I really love about Terri’s stories are the characters, they all feel so real, like people I could know, and the situations they’re in are realistic. Stars: Five. A great read and terrific addition to the series.

It was a unique story, one that had its share of funny moments, hot moments, and all the other types in between.

Erica on Goodreads Read Review

Their chemistry is explosive. There is a bit of depth to the story. I loved that the setting was Vegas. It was hard to put the book down and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves contemporary romance.
